Former Tottenham Hotspur and QPR coach, Harry Redknapp claims that Liverpool approached Carlo Ancelotti before going to Jurgen Klopp. According to him, the former Real Madrid boss turned down the offer to coach the premier league club. Prior to the sacking of former coach Brendan Rodgers, it had been rumored that the club had approached Carlo Ancelotti as a possible replacement but they quickly rebuked the news only to cut off Rodgers days later.

Liverpool then made it seem like they only wanted Klopp because of his ability to rebuild teams. But Harry Redknapp has come out to state that Klopp was only a second choice who the club approached after being turned down by the Italian. The Former Real Madrid and AC milan boss took a self imposed leave from the game after parting ways with Real Madrid at the end of last season to go have a back surgery. now after Klopp’s announcement at Liverpool, Ancelotti came out to say that he is ready to go back to coaching and he would preferably want a premier league team where he says is an ideal environment for the game.

Even though Klopp was second choice to Ancelotti, Redknapp believes the 48 years old German has what it takes to take Liverpool back to its glory days as he is a coach who is always filled with enthusiasm . He also went on to state that he thinks that the German would bring more spice and competition to the league as a whole. He also went on to state that he feels Ancelotti wanted more and that is why he rejected Liverpool’s offer. He is a coach who would love to coach a Champions League team.

After a tough start to the season for Liverpool which culminated in the sack of coach Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool has appointed Jurgen Klopp as their new manager. The appointment is coming barely a week after the sack of Rodgers and is Liverpool keeping to their word of appointing a manager before their game against Tottenham.

The appointment of Klopp was confirmed on Thursday night. Klopp would be presented as the coach by 10 am on Friday in an interview at Anfield. Klopp signed a 3 year deal worth about £6 million per year. The deal has an option of an additional twelve years if Klopp performs to the expectation of owners, Fenway Sports Group.

Klopp arrived at Liverpool by 5pm on Thursday. He landed at the John Lennon Airport. He came through a private Jet from Dortmund. He was accompanied by family and assistants, Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz. He signed the deal with Fenway Sport Group President, Mike Gordon and Liverpool Chief Executive, Ian Ayre.

The former Dortmund coach would be making little changes to the back room staff. John Achterberg, the goal keeper trainer would be retained. He would also retain academic director Alex Inglethorpe and club director Andy Massey.

Some back room staff who are leaving include assistant manager, Sean O’Driscoll, Glenn Driscoll the performance head and Chris Davis who is the head of opposition analysis.

The coming of Jurgen Klopp to Liverpool has been well anticipated. Even before Rodgers was sacked, there were speculations that he might be interested in the Liverpool job. After the sack of Rodgers, Klopp and Ancelotti were both speculated as top runners for the job. Finally, Klopp was the favourite of Fenway Sports Group.

We hope that he would be able to deliver at Liverpool.

Klopp during his time at Dortmund After sacking Brendan Rogers this weekend, Liverpool has set their sights on hiring German personality Jurgen Klopp as a possible replacement. Klopp has been on a self imposed sabbatical leave since leaving Borrusia Dortmund at the end of last season. Jurgen Klopp spent 7 years in all at Dortmund which saw him win plenty silverwares and even carried the team to the Champions league finals. He achieved a lot at Dortmund and was loved by his players and the fans at large.

Liverpool on the other hand parted ways with Brendan Rogers after their 1-1 draw with Everton. It’s been a long time coming for Rodgers as he had been hanging on the ropes since the beginning of the season. After spending so much to bring in players during the last transfer market, there seemed to be no progress with the team. During his three years spell at Liverpool, Rodgers brought in a total of 31 Players and all he has to show for it is one silver ware, not a major one at that.

Jurgen Klopp has been rumored as the possible replacement for Pep Guardiola after his contract with Bayern Munich runs this January but the possibilities of a U-turn by the Spaniard has made Kloop consider the offer from Liverpool. Liverpool also has former AC Milan and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelloti as an option but Kloop remains their first choice. They would want to seal the deal for Klopp on time as Chelsea’s coach Jose Mourinho seems to be running out of time to get the club back to winning ways. And if so happens that Mourinho is sacked, Chelsea would turn their sights to Klopp or Ancelloti which would make the whole process more difficult for them.

Liverpool have had a very woeful performance early this season by all standards. This has in the end, culminated into the sacking of the Liverpool coach, Brendan Rodgers. Brendan Rodgers was sacked this Sunday. This was after the 1-1 draw with Everton at Everton’s home which took place on Saturday.
The game was a virtually fruitless one, especially for the Liverpool team. Liverpool got the first goal when forward Danny Ings scored at the 41st minute. Everton equalised sooner at the 45th minute through their forward, Romelu Lukaku. This result ended up placing Liverpool at 10th position on the table.
On Sunday, Rodgers was shown the door after it appeared that he was no longer fit to take the team to the promised land. It is reported that the decision to sack Rodgers had already been reached even before the Everton game. The owners of Liverpool, Fenway Sports Group chose not to reveal this before the match do that it would not interfere with preparations for the match.
Brendan Rodgers is the first Liverpool coach since the 1950s not to lift a trophy in his first three years. Rodgers came pretty close to getting the league title in the 2013/2014 season but they ended up coming second place. Louis Suarez was very important in this season. The next season he was sold and Rodgers was unable to find a suitable replacement. Thus, Liverpool ended up as sixth position in the 2014/2015 season.
Rodgers was cut some slack due to the previous performance of the team in the 2013/2014 season. This season, the performance of the squad was woeful and it has culminated to his leaving of the club.
Liverpool have promised to find a replacement for the coach before the game against Tottenham in two weeks time. Top contenders for the position include former Dortmund coach, Jurgen Klopp and former Madrid coach, Carlo Ancellotti.

The position of Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers is in serious question as there have been insinuations that former Dortmund boss, Jurgen Klopp, might be interested in his job.

This is coming after a woeful performance by the Liverpool side since the beginning of this season. Liverpool haven’t won in their last five games before their match against Carlisle. Of the last 8 games played by Liverpool, they only have 6 goals to boot.

The game against Carlisle was even won on penalties as Liverpool could not find a win in 120 minutes. Danny Ings scored for Liverpool when he headed a cross from Adam Lallana into the goal in 23rd minute. Asamoah equalised for Carlisle in the 35th minute. The rest of the game dragged on with neither side being able to find the net. The Liverpool fans were so disappointed that they booed the team while the match was on.

A lot of people are calling for Brendan Rodger’s head. This is further heightened by insinuations that the former Dortmund coach might be interested in Rodger’s position. Klopp, who left Dortmund at the end of last season for a year long sabbatical might end it prematurely to take a coaching position in the English Premier league. Right now, Liverpool seems to be the club in need of a new coach.

Some fans have also vowed to wear Jurgen Klopp outfits to Liverpool’s next game in a bid to register their grievances.

However, neither Klopp nor any of his representatives has not been contacted by Liverpool for the position.

Liverpool have also been linked to former Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

Liverpool seems to be fed up with Brendan Rodgers current misfortune. Rumors have it that The Reds are weighing up their options as they look to replace their current team coach whose team has only been able to secure 8 points from a possible 18 points in six games. Their last result which was a 1-1 draw with Norwich city has left the coach hanging on a string as he tries to save his job. But it appears Liverpool have plans of their own to rescue the team. The club has released statements denying reports that they approached the three times Champions League winner but it seems unlikely to be true. It would be recalled that they were also linked with former Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp when he departed the Bundesliga at the end of last season following a disappointing league run.

Ancelotti has always been an admirer of the club stating one time that he thinks the clubs anthem and fans are incredible. Ancelotti who left Madrid at the end of last season after winning the La Decima with Real Madrid has been contacted by a lot of big clubs in Europe. He took time off to have a back surgery and is said to be recovering well now. It is understood that the 56 years old veteran of the game is healthy enough to return to the side lines but is in no haste, he would rather wait for an exciting opportunity to present itself.

More pressure has been mounted on Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers after a dissppointing match against Norwich this Sunday. Liverpool drew the match 1-1 against Norwich at Anfield. Ings Scored first for Liverpool after half time in the 48th minute. However, Martins got one back for Norwich in the 61st minute following a blunder from Liverpool keeper during a corner kick.

Liverpool have won just 5 of their last 18 games in all competitions. This season, they have only scored four goals in the Premier League which is a record better than only Newcastle’s. All these point to a dismal performance from Liverpool.

The coach has a lot to be blamed for. Liverpool’s defence has continued in its sloppiness. This problem is further made worse by Liverpool’s bluntness going forward. Brendan Rodgers spent £80 million on 7 players this transfer season. However, there hasn’t been much impact in their game this season.

The next test for Brendan Rodgers is their league cup match against Carlisle on Wednesday. After that is the match against Aston Villa at Anfield. Aston Villa have won only one match this season. However, they have a good record against Liverpool. They have had two wins in their last four away games at Anfield. Also, Liverpool has not beaten Aston Villa at home since 2010.

Brendan Rodger’s side has to improve their performance in the coming matches. If Rodgers doesn’t improve he could find himself out of a job very soon. This is made worse by the insinuation that Dortmund’s former coach, Jurgen Klopp might be interested in Rodger’s position.

Liverpool’s Europa League campaign started with an away match to Bordeaux but their display wasn’t all that different from what we have been seeing them do in the premier league this term. Liverpool took the lead in the second half through a wonderful goal from Adam Lallana but Jussie was able to draw level for Bordeaux. Brendan Rodgers has been criticized for his surprise tactics and he seems to still be in the juggling game as his team reverted to a three-man defense allowing Jordan Ibe and Alberto Moreno to roam the flanks. Another point worth noting was the number of young players who featured for the team with Gomez, Rossiter and Jordan Ibe starting the match while Pedro and Bragnnagan were introduced in the later stages of the game. This influx of young players offers promises for the club’s fans.

Adams Lallana’s goal seemed to have secured all three points for Liverpool as the former Southampton drove in from the left, before curling the ball into the corner of the net. He missed their weekend clash against rivals, Manchester United through injury. Lallana’s technical ability has never been debated but his inability to convert a wonderful display into goal has always been a concern. Last night’s match showed that the young forward still had it in him as he was always a constant threat to the home team before getting a goal to crown his efforts for the night. He is sure to gain a starting berth in Brendan Rodger’s team if he continues to emulate this performance in subsequent matches.

Gerard bares his mind

Steven Gerard, a former Liverpool midfielder who is now at Los Angeles Galaxy is perceived as a cool player. However, recently, he has been baring his mind on a matter of issues through his auto-biography, “My Story”, which is being serially published by the Daily Mail.

Gerard in his auto-biography has come out to say that he has a nice relationship with all former Liverpool coaches except Rafa Benitez. This would seem to be odd since the biggest point of Gerard’s career, lifting the champions league trophy, was under Rafa Benitez. Gerard has said that the coach didn’t relate personally with the players and could be considered somewhat too professional.

He also called Rafa Benitez’s decision to sell Alonso for £30 million to Real Madrid as stupid. Gerard says that Alonso could have stayed longer or he could have been sold at a better price. This is considering the fact that he has gone on to achieve a lot more after leaving Liverpool; winning league titles and the champions league in 2013/2014. He has also won the world cup and the Euro cup while playing for the Spanish national team.

Gerard also said that Balotelli us a waste of talent. He agreed with Jose Mourinho, who coached Balotelli while at Inter, that Balotelli is an unmanageable player. Gerard said that Balotelli has the potential to be a world class player but his attitude stands in his way of reaching his full potential. Gerard recounted an incident during training in which Balotelli said he couldn’t mark during corners. This shocked Gerard, who considering Balotelli’s size and strength, felt Balotelli could pull it off. In the end was glad that the coach, Brendan Rodgers, was firm and told him that he would have to learn how to mark during corners.

In conclusion, we are lucky that Gerard’s auto-biography is being serially published. This is due to the fact that the publishing would give us a peek into this great player’s thoughts and opinions.

After Liverpool’s last match last season in which they conceded six goals from stoke, one would think they would have gone back to the drawing board and devised better means to up their game. This is not the case as their performance this season has been poor.

Liverpool has lost 2 out of five games this season. One may wonder how losing two games out of five is disastrous. Losing two out of five isn’t disastrous in itself, it is the manner of the loss that is disastrous. The first loss was 0-3 to Westham at Anfield. The other loss is the recent one to arch-rivals Manchester United this weekend.

The first half of the match at old Trafford was unproductive as neither teams had any shots on target. Four minutes after the break, Daley Blind helped put United in the lead. In the 70th minute, Ander Herrerra was tackled in the 18 yard box and a penalty was awarded which he converted into a second goal for United. In the 84th minute, Christian Benteke scored for Liverpool with a beautiful acrobatic display. A minute later, deadline day signing, Martial, put in a third one for united, sealing the match for them.

The playing style of Liverpool’s coach, Brendan Rodgers, has come under heavy criticism. Jamie Carragher, a retired former Liverpool defender has criticised Rodgers love of the 4-3-3 formation. He asserts that the formation is not right for Liverpool as they don’t have any wide players. He cites the example of the 2013/2014 season when Liverpool was close to clinching the title when they used the 4-4-2 formation.

In all, Brendan Rodgers has to put his act together at Liverpool. If not, he might find himself out of job soonest.
