Chelsea star, Cesc Fabregas had had a running in with the authorities. He has bagged a six months driving ban after he exceeded the speed limit. The 28 year old midfielder admitted guilt for breaking the speed limit of 50 mph by getting to a speed of about 110mph, over twice the speed limit.

He broke the speed limit while driving his Aston Martin Vantage and was caught on camera by a police officer. He was charged a fine of £2500. This fine is made up of a  £1000 fine, £625 for court costs, £840 for the expert fee and a £100 victim surcharge.

On the fine, the judge said “With regards to the fine, as a footballer I’m sure he is earning a large sum of money. Under these circumstances, I cannot see any reason why a fine of £1,000 would not be appropriate.”

The star was also handed 6 points on his license. This makes it a total of 12 points. The initial 6 points was gotten when he failed to identify an unknown driver of his Aston Martin last year October.

His lawyer in expressing Fabregas’ remorse said “This is not somebody who is repeatedly before the court for troubling speed cameras, running red lights, driving without insurance and driving without a licence. That doesn’t arise in this case. What I can tell you is that this is somebody who will not be doing it again.”

In all, it is hoped that true to his lawyer’s words, Fabregas won’t be having more trouble with the authorities.

Chelsea FC has had a very difficult start to the season. This can be said to be because of a lacklustre performance by the team. One of the important players who has not been performing as well is Belgian star, Eden Hazard. Eden Hazard has been unable to score in his first 10 games of the season for Chelsea.

He has come out to admit that he is in a difficult phase of his career. He said: “This is perhaps the most difficult period of my career. There are always ups and downs. I’m not certain what the problem is. But we have to keep working hard to improve. It’s always good to spend time with the national team, and even more so when things aren’t going well for your club. I know I can do better. I have to be able to help the team win.”

Hazard is currently absent on duty with he national team. He was able to net a goal in Belgium’s 4-1 win over Andorra. This was through a penalty in the 56th minute of the game. He seeks to help the team qualify for the Euro competition and to also top their table above Wales that are currently topping the table.

Chelsea has had a poor performance this season. Of their first 8 games this season, they lost four. This leaves them occupying the shocking position of 16th on the table. This has been very tragic considering the fact that they occupied the top position last season. In addition to that, they also won the league cup.

Chelsea FC need to get their act together and Eden Hazard is very influential towards achieving this. Thus, he has to pick up his form of last season.

The English premier league has been introduced to dismal performance in European competitions this season and last season. Acclaimed by its fans as the best league in the world due to its unpredictability, the league is fast losing ground when it comes to European competitions.

Last season, no English premier league team made it through the round of sixteen. This season of all the opening games played only one out of four English teams were able to garner wins. The rest lost in a blatant show of shame.

The team that won was Chelsea FC in the match against Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Chelsea’s won the match with four goals to none. Early in the match, Willian was slipped by the opposing keeper in the 18 yard box. A penalty was awarded which Edin hazard threw away. However, Chelsea found the net in the fourteenth minute from a Willian free kick. Chelsea scored their second from an Oscar penalty just before the half time. Costa scored the third goal and Fabregas subsequently wrapped it up with the fourth.

Manchester city could not hold up their invincibility in the game against Juventus. Man city was the first to find the net with an own goal from Chielini in the 37th minute. City was not fated to score in this match as Mandzukic equalised in the 70th minute and Morata wrapped it up for Juventus in the 81st minute.

Arsenal also lost against Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia. Giroud was sent off in the 40th minute after a previous own goal by Chamberlain. Fernandez headed in the second goal for Zagreb in the 58th minute. Walcott later scored a goal for Arsenal but Arsenal couldn’t find the equaliser.

In Manchester United’s match versus PSV, the Reds took the lead through Memphis Depay. Moreno equalised for PSV just before half time. At the 57th minute, Luciano Narsingh headed the winning goal for PSV.

The English Premier league teams have had a poor outing in Europe and the teams and have to up their game or they might face dire consequences like losing a slot in the Uefa champions league.
