Chelsea star, Cesc Fabregas had had a running in with the authorities. He has bagged a six months driving ban after he exceeded the speed limit. The 28 year old midfielder admitted guilt for breaking the speed limit of 50 mph by getting to a speed of about 110mph, over twice the speed limit.

He broke the speed limit while driving his Aston Martin Vantage and was caught on camera by a police officer. He was charged a fine of £2500. This fine is made up of a  £1000 fine, £625 for court costs, £840 for the expert fee and a £100 victim surcharge.

On the fine, the judge said “With regards to the fine, as a footballer I’m sure he is earning a large sum of money. Under these circumstances, I cannot see any reason why a fine of £1,000 would not be appropriate.”

The star was also handed 6 points on his license. This makes it a total of 12 points. The initial 6 points was gotten when he failed to identify an unknown driver of his Aston Martin last year October.

His lawyer in expressing Fabregas’ remorse said “This is not somebody who is repeatedly before the court for troubling speed cameras, running red lights, driving without insurance and driving without a licence. That doesn’t arise in this case. What I can tell you is that this is somebody who will not be doing it again.”

In all, it is hoped that true to his lawyer’s words, Fabregas won’t be having more trouble with the authorities.

  1. Spain plays a brand of soccer which frtesrauts its opposition. They keep the ball out of their own goal by maintaining possession and patiently building up play until the opportune time to strike. Extremely difficult to defend for 90 minutes.Enjoy the game!
